Karol, Poljak nastanjen u Parizu, u velikom je problemu:
Dominika, njegova supruga, nezadovoljna nekonzumiranim brakom, zatraži razvod.
Iako pretjerano zaljubljen i očaran njezinom ljepotom, ništa mu ne uspijeva da je razuvjeri:
ona ga optuži da je podmetnuo požar u njenom frizerskom salonu.
Kako se parnica razvija, ona Karola izbaci iz stana,
te se ovaj nađe na rubu siromaštva, prisiljen da prosi po pariškoj podzemnoj željeznici.
Malo po malo, Karol shvati da mu u Francuskoj očito nije mjesto,
te se kriomice vrati u svoju rodnu Poljsku.
Prisiljen je da se bavi ilegalnim poslovima, jer vjeruje da će se, ako se obogati, moći vratiti Dominiki...
